About Temperature Units

Temperature is measured in degrees Celsius (°C), degrees Fahrenheit (°F), and kelvin (K).

Unlike the other quantities here, temperature scales are not simple SI-prefix factors — they use both a scale and an offset. Celsius and kelvin share a step size but differ by 273.15, while Fahrenheit uses a different step entirely. Component ratings and sensor outputs may use any of the three.

Example conversions

  • 25 °C = 77 °F = 298.15 K — typical room temperature.
  • 0 °C = 32 °F = 273.15 K — the freezing point of water.

Frequently asked questions

How do I convert Celsius to Fahrenheit?

Multiply by 9/5 and add 32. 25 °C is 77 °F.

How do I convert Celsius to kelvin?

Add 273.15. 25 °C is 298.15 K.

How do I convert Fahrenheit to Celsius?

Subtract 32, then multiply by 5/9. 77 °F is 25 °C.
