About Temperature Units
Temperature is measured in degrees Celsius (°C), degrees Fahrenheit (°F), and kelvin (K).
Unlike the other quantities here, temperature scales are not simple SI-prefix factors — they use both a scale and an offset. Celsius and kelvin share a step size but differ by 273.15, while Fahrenheit uses a different step entirely. Component ratings and sensor outputs may use any of the three.
Example conversions
- 25 °C = 77 °F = 298.15 K — typical room temperature.
- 0 °C = 32 °F = 273.15 K — the freezing point of water.
Frequently asked questions
